My friend Liana and I just got in a tiff about fur. I was showing her a gorgeous tan wool coat with what looks like fox on the collar. "Ew" was her response, and I couldn't believe it! I asked her why and her argument was that she loves animals. Well I love fashion more.
Here is a picture:
So I did a little research on the topic of fur. One is that its extremely warm. I have a black, down coat from Burberry with (detachable) fox on the hood, and I think its considerably warmer with the fur than without (maybe its just my imagination!). I also have a black, suede, coat lined with grey shearling and its the warmest coat I've ever worn. Another argument is that it looks better then faux fur. I've noticed how the faux fur on coats gets matted, and dirty, and just doesn't look good. Little can be done to restore a matted and worn faux fur coat. Another perk is that real fur is biodegradable whereas its counterpart is made from petroleum based synthetic materials.
"I totally get the dirtiness of the fur industry and how terrible it is to animals, but it's not something that's the No. 1 priority in my life. There are humans dying every day. There are thousands if not millions of homeless people in New York City. Look at what just happened in Haiti. I tend to focus my energy, if there is a cause, on humans. While that may be callous and bad of me, it's my choice."

This brings me to another topic. PETA. It seems like they are out of control; I read Perez Hilton's fashion blog religiously and he's always blogging about some celebrity that is getting attacked by PETA. It's not right! I know that there is some controversy within the fur industry, but people should not be getting attacked because they want to wear a fabulous mink coat. And PETA doesn't have any right to sit there and scrutinize people, and then throw them under the bus they don't have the same view point as them. Personally I think we need to focus more on the state of the country, and Obama's push for socialism.
"I think animals are treated very poorly. When I see people wearing fur it makes me so sick. Especially when I see young singers doing it- that sickens me. When I rocked up to my first photo shoot they had feathers and fur there and everything I despise. I had to make it clear that I just do not go there.

Whatever D-list Leona, go talk to Anna Wintour about that!

So I really want a denim button down.
I don't normally go for pieces that are so trendy, and trying to figure out how much to spend on an item of clothing that will only be worn for one season is difficult. I wonder if its even worth it!
On another note, me and my sister Sarah had a fabulous time watching ANTM (America's Next Top Model) tonight, and we just loooove Andre Leon Talley. He's so fierce with all of his little sayings like Drecktitude which means a total hot mess. He makes the show much more fun and brings a note of high fashion; thank god because while Tyra can take a photo and a half she knows nothing about marketing in the fashion industry. Well anyway, Tyra is still ridiculous and wore this awful nude jumpsuit to panel. All I could think was, "Do you actually think you look good?" and "Maybe it's time for a new stylist Tyra." I asked Sarah why she didn't have a huge CT (camel toe), and she couldn't figure out why either.
And now I will leave you with a little Chanel

New Beginnings
Starting is the hardest part. I've thought long and hard as to how to start my first post and came up with nada. So I'm skipping that part!
I watched The September Issue with my sister yesterday (it was her first time seeing it) and every time I am amazed at Anna Wintor's ability to seperate her heart from her head, it's spectacular!! I have so much respect for her and don't find her to be as harsh (she's just doing her job!) as everyone says, but I'm sure that if I were to work for her I would be trembling! I do feel somewhat sorry for Grace, but then again she's very headstrong too, and it seems the only one that will stand up to the Ice Queen.
"Just because you like to put on a beautiful Carolina Herrera dress or a pair of J Brand blue jeans instead of something basic from K-Mart it doesn't mean that you're a dumb person."
--Anna Wintour
I started reading Kell Cutrone's new book the other day If You Have to Cry Go Outside and it's actually pretty good. I'm only halfway through but it moves rather quickly and hasn't left me bored yet. She seems very genuine and admits to her failures. She even goes into depth about her drug problem and money issues (which I find to be very interesting). I recommend it for anyone in the fashion business, or for someone in look for a fun read.
Spring is finally here and I think it's time for a change, so I chopped 5 inches of my hair off yesterday. It's kind of like a textured/angled bob, it's so cute and bouncy I just love it! It's also time to start adding color to my wardrobe and maybe break the skirts out. I'm also really excited for springs new trend in lowered heel height and look forward to giving my poor feet a rest.
These Prada pumps with a chunky heel are adorable. I like this idea much more than flats
I'm in love with these Valentino open-toed pumps with a 2" heel. (I have the pair thats much taller in hot pink)
